Day Trip in Europe 3 – Bologna
🌈Our journey continued to the home of the world’s oldest university: Bologna. Unfortunately, the city was undergoing major renovations this year, with main roads and heritage buildings under construction. 🥳Still, I really liked it for three reasons: its deep sense of history (it was founded in 534 BC), its compact and walkable city center, and its status as a food capital—even a random pastry shop I tried on the street was delicious. 🍊Bologna is actually famous for its mortadella salami, but I’m not a fan of salami, nor of ragù or lasagna. My heart belongs to orecchiette from Bari. 🍐We visited a few major attractions: the Fountain of Neptune, the Two Towers, the Basilica of San Petronio, the University of Bologna, and the Bologna Cathedral. 💛 Another thing I especially loved was the porticoes covering the main streets—perfect protection from wind, rain, or harsh sun. ✨ Not long after we arrived, a thunderstorm hit. My parents took shelter in the cathedral and ended up spending an hour there. The cathedral also has an underground chapel that’s incredibly cool and quiet. #Bologna #Pasta #TravelItaly
