🍣 Denver Omakase | Kizaki by Toshi – Finally Open!
The long-awaited Kizaki Omakase just opened last week — and it’s led by none other than Toshi, the owner of Denver’s top sushi spot, Sushi Den! When I heard he was opening a dedicated omakase restaurant, my expectations shot through the roof 🚀 While Denver has plenty of Japanese spots, it’s been missing a truly authentic omakase experience — and who better to deliver it than Toshi himself? By a stroke of luck, I snagged two canceled reservations for Saturday — making me one of the first to try it without a months-long wait! ✨ 💰 Price: $225 per person 🍱 Includes: 20 courses + dessert + tea 🍶 Optional wine or sake pairing, plus à la carte drinks 📊 The Verdict: Overall, great value! I left completely full — the fish was fresh, not fishy, and each course offered variety in flavor and technique. Service was smooth, pacing perfect — we finished in about 2 hours. ⚠️ But a few notes: Some dishes overlapped with Toshi’s other restaurants (Sushi Den & Temaki Den). If you’re a regular, you might recognize flavors like the hot oil octopus (similar to Sushi Den’s new-style sashimi) or the saba oshizushi. The uni also tasted familiar — likely sourced from the same supplier. 🐟 Letdowns: The otoro was slightly overcooked — a bit bitter, missing that melt-in-your-mouth feel. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) was topped with shiso-seasoned snow crab — I couldn’t taste the crab at all 🦀🙈 (I don’t hate shiso, but I missed the pure crab flavor.) 🌟 Highlights: The negitoro hand roll early on totally woke up my appetite! Dessert was a surprise win — the strawberry daifuku was lovely, and the hojicha pudding? Rich, creamy, incredible! I ended with a cup of hojicha tea — light, soothing, and the perfect finish to a rich meal. 🎯 Final Thoughts: Despite a few familiar flavors, Kizaki is polished, satisfying, and a welcome addition to Denver’s dining scene. I’ll definitely be back — especially once they launch their seasonal menu! Can’t wait to see how they evolve 🍁 #KizakiOmakase #DenverSushi #ToshiDenver #OmakaseExperience #FineDining #DenverFoodie
