Dim Sum à la Shanghai|Restaurant Review 😊
We made a reservation in advance 🍽️. The restaurant's overall ambiance is elegant, blending modern minimalism with Jiangnan garden elements 🌿. After being seated, the server was friendly and proactively introduced the seasonal specialties. In terms of dishes, the shrimp dumplings were outstanding ✨—the wrappers were thin and translucent, the filling was plump, and you could taste whole, springy shrimp with perfectly balanced seasoning. However, the chicken siu mai was disappointing —the filling was noticeably undercooked when served, with a pinkish hue and a cold, raw texture. The server initially suggested "steaming it again" , but we declined, considering that reheating might affect the texture. Shortly after, someone who appeared to be the manager came to apologize , took the initiative to remove the dish from the bill , and offered a complimentary serving of red bean soup as compensation 🫘. The rest of the dishes were generally decent: the barbecue pork pastry had a balanced sweet-salty flavor with flaky layers 🥐; the sticky rice chicken was fragrant with lotus leaves but had a relatively sparse filling ; and the turnip cake was crispy outside and tender inside, with a spicy sauce that added a nice kick 🌶️. For dessert, the mango pomelo sago was refreshing, with a well-balanced sweet-tart flavor 🍨. It's worth noting that Asian faces made up no more than 10% of the diners , with most being locals or European/American tourists. The menu design clearly caters to Western taste preferences, and some traditional dim sum flavors have been adapted. Overall, this is a restaurant suitable for recommending to foreign friends who are unfamiliar with Chinese dim sum but want to experience a fusion style 🌍. However, for those seeking authentic Cantonese flavors, it might fall a bit short. The service response and attitude toward problem-solving were commendable 👍, though there is room for improvement in dish consistency 📈. Suggestion: If visiting again, try more creative dim sum options 💡, and consider ordering traditional steamed dishes during off-peak hours ⏳. If any issues arise, polite and direct feedback usually leads to a positive resolution 🔄. #Albany#Albanylife#Albanytravel#Albanyguide#Albanyfood#fooddiary#NewYork#NewYorkAlbany#AlbanyRestaurant
