NYC Albany Weekend Getaway | 2-Day Upstate NY Road Trip 🚗🗽

Weekend getaway to Albany, the capital of New York! This quiet little city is perfect for a relaxing escape. Day two was especially rewarding with some fantastic hidden gems. 🗓️ Itinerary: Day 1: NJ → Albany Day 2: Albany → Cohoes Falls → Peebles Island → Waterford → Saratoga Springs 1️⃣ Albany Empire Plaza 🏛️The Capitol, The Egg, and the museum are all here—great for photos and wandering. The Capitol looks like it's straight out of "The Grand Budapest Hotel"! The Egg and the Corning Tower were closed during our weekend visit.Tip: If you park in the underground visitor parking, remember where you parked... trust me on this! 😅 2️⃣ New York State Museum 🏺Free admission with amazing exhibits! Highlights include Devonian plant fossils and Ice Age mammoths. There are also great collections on minerals, immigration history, 9/11 memorial, and local flora and fauna. 3️⃣ Ala Shanghai Restaurant 🍜We loved it so much we went twice! Highly recommend the sweet and sour whole fish. The owner kindly recommended our day two itinerary. 4️⃣ Cohoes Falls 🌊Claimed to be the widest waterfall in the eastern US. It looked surprisingly similar to the Great Falls in Paterson, NJ. Both are industrial-style waterfalls that powered 19th-century factories. 5️⃣ Peebles Island State Park 🏞️A true hidden gem with historical buildings. In the 1830s it was home to textile mills and later a bleach factory. Perfect for picnics, cycling, and hiking. 6️⃣ Waterford Village ⛵An adorable, off-the-beaten-path town with a harbor, shops, and scenic riverside streets. A wonderful little discovery!
