DMV Delicacies | Yen’s Kitchen & Sushi Bar
🥂 Ambiance: Clean and tidy, with a reasonable layout, spacious seating, and a 5-6 table occupancy rate at noon on weekends. The overall cuisine features signature dishes such as “Three Cup Chicken,” Salted Crispy Chicken, and Bamboo Shoots with Soybeans. It’s been a semi-canteen for the neighborhood for years. There was another Taiwanese eatery, but it closed due to the pandemic, which is a bummer (The owner and his wife are lovely; their Spicy Beef Noodles are my favorite!) 🥘 Dishes: Golden Shrimp: The salted egg yolk fried shrimp 🍤 is somewhat average. Three Cup Duck Tongue: As the server explained, the duck tongues come from New York and are cooked using the “Three Cup Chicken” method, quite unique. Salted Crispy Chicken: The signature dish, crispy outside with juicy, tender meat inside, and large pieces. Absolutely love it! Bamboo Shoots with Soybeans: A light and refreshing dish, universally praised by all. Stewed Duck Pot: The taro and duck are good, but there’s not much soup. Golden Tofu: Salted egg yolk tofu, not very flavorful. Wuxi Spareribs (Not sure if that’s the name, but it’s a rib dish, not in a braised flavor): The taste is a bit quirky, it grows on you with every bite. 💁♂️ Service: Standard. Overall, the menu is reliable, a nice place to dine when you’re in the vicinity.
