Don’t Trust Google Maps on Holidays!

We had our Fourth of July planned out to the minute: New Mexico – Las Cruces ✅ White Sands Missile Museum ✅ New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum Texas – El Paso ✅ El Paso Museum of Art ✅ National Border Patrol Museum ✅ Scenic Drive – El Paso Overlook Google Maps showed everything was open… but when we checked the official websites the night before — everything was closed for the holiday! 😭 Lesson learned: Always double-check official sites on holidays! What We Actually Did New Mexico We visited the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum 🏞️. It covers the state’s farming history and culture, with a whole exhibit on the legendary outlaw Billy the Kid 🤠. There’s also a small outdoor farm area with cattle. (Honestly… it was a bit boring 🥱.) Texas We drove up to the Scenic Drive Overlook for a panoramic view of El Paso and the U.S.–Mexico border 🌆🇲🇽. It’s a nice photo spot, and you can get pretty close to the border wall by car. Dinner Highlight 🥩✨ We headed to Cattleman’s Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch for some real comfort food. The steak was flavorful and not too salty — actually better than the BBQ! Dinner definitely helped soothe our slightly disappointed hearts ❤️🩹. After eating, we walked around the ranch 🚶‍♂️🌾. They have rabbits, goats, sheep, and deer 🐇🐐🦌 — and we even caught cowboys practicing roping and riding ⏰ Fun Fact: El Paso is in the same time zone as New Mexico — I totally thought we’d gain an hour crossing into Texas! Sometimes the unplanned stops turn out to be the real adventures. Happy (and flexible) travels! #US #Texas #El Paso
