Durban, South Africa | Beauty & Danger 🌍
🏙️ Durban – South Africa’s third-largest city, a famous port town known for football ⚽ and surfing 🏄♂️. 🚨 Safety Warning: Heard it’s unsafe, so I mostly took taxis… but still got robbed (story for later 😓). Almost everyone I know here has been mugged at least once. 🌊 Stunning Coastline: Walked along Umhlanga Beach a few times—so relaxing with perfect weather ☀️. But the decaying downtown? Creepy, like a ghost town 🏚️. Avoid going out at night! 🦐 Food Scene: Mostly Western cuisine and seafood 🍤, but there’s Chinese food too—options for every taste! 📸 Missed Adventures: Work and safety issues ruined my travel plans—never made it to Cape Town or Kruger National Park 😢. 🏗️ Infrastructure: Surprisingly decent, better than Brazil’s. South Africa was a developed country before the ‘90s, but economic decline hit hard. Now it’s living off past glory. 💭 Mixed Feelings: Durban is both beautiful and dangerous. If it were safer, I’d probably love it more. But as a friend said, "If it became safe, maybe it’d lose its edge—and then would you really like it?" #SouthAfrica #Durban 🌆✨
