Durdle Door: Perfect Solo Day Trip from London
If you're planning a day trip from London, head to the stunning Durdle Door on England's southwest coast! Beyond the iconic limestone arch, you'll discover the breathtaking Jurassic Coast, white cliffs, and crystal-clear "jelly-like" waters. Follow this guide for a smooth adventure! 🚆 Getting There Train: 2.5hrs from London Waterloo to Wool Station Bus: Take Bus 30 or 31 (~20min) to Durdle Door Walk: ~20min from the bus stop to the beach 📍 Essential Tips 1️⃣ Train Alert: At London Waterloo, board Coaches 1-5 only—the train splits mid-journey, and only these coaches go to Wool. Check signs or listen for announcements! 2️⃣ Bus Transfer: Buses 30 & 31 both go to Durdle Door (just in different orders). The bus stop is right outside Wool Station—easy to find if the train is on time! Weekend service available, but Sunday schedules vary. Best view? Sit on the upper deck for scenic coastal views! 3️⃣ The Final Stretch: Get off at Durdle Door Park Entrance, cross the road, and take the stairs down. Follow the wooded trail (~10min) to the main entrance (see Pic 7). Then, a 10min downhill walk to the beach (snack kiosks available). 4️⃣ Beach Tips: Swim, kayak, or picnic by the shore! Wear sturdy shoes—the pebble beach is tough on sandals. Don’t forget sunglasses & sunscreen! 5️⃣ Returning: Catch the same bus back (ask the driver: "To Wool Station?"). Buses run hourly (sometimes 2+ hrs apart)—allow 30-40min to hike back uphill! Trains to London usually depart 10min after the bus arrives at Wool. 6️⃣ That’s it—now go explore!
