๐ Dutch Restaurant Week in Rotterdam ๐ Parkheuvel ๐
The Netherlands' Restaurant Week lasts for two whole months, and I finally got to experience it at the end of winter. Parkheuvel, nestled by the river at het park and under the Euromast tower, is a veteran restaurant in Rotterdam and also a Michelin two-star establishment. The dinner set during the restaurant week costs 120 euros and includes the following: ๐ซณ Finger food The black, thin rolls on the small mountain top have a tangy juice that's very appetizing. Below are two different salty cheese balls. In the cup are layers of carrot slices rolled with finely chopped onions, served in a fish source. ๐ฝ๏ธ Starters For the ladies, there's foie gras๐ชฟ, three small spheres to be eaten in order: original, fruity, and chocolate flavors, served on a bed of beetroot. For the gentlemen, there's scallop, served with a very fragrant sauce, but the slices are a bit soft and mushy. ๐ Main courses First up is the sea bass, with distinct layers of meat and rich fat in the middle. It's topped with a bit of eel็ข, and the foam sauce has a slight tang that complements it well. Next is the Angus beef, with a crispy exterior but still juicy inside. The side dishes include artichoke, asparagus, and a hollow fried potato ball, with a red wine sauce that's not really necessary. ๐ฐ Desserts On the plate is a cake holding a sugar shell sphere, inside of which is ice cream and blood orange. In the cup is a base of red quinoa crumbs, topped with what feels like ginger sorbet, with a small cookie on top. ๐ฅ The recommended alcohol-free sparkling wine tastes great, with a aftertaste of sour plum juice, and I'm planning to buy some to stock at home. Overall, it was a good experience, but I probably won't come back, especially when compared to M.B. in Tenerife, which also has two stars but feels better, and I want to go again.
