🗿 Easter Island, Chile | The Most Remote Place Will Always Be Reached
On day 11 of my South America trip, I finally set foot on Easter Island 🗿! This tiny island is over 3,600 km from Santiago, Chile. After a 5-hour LATAM Airlines flight, I arrived! The weather was insanely perfect—sky so blue it looked fake ☁️. Our itinerary (in order): 1️⃣ Rano Raraku Quarry: Worth visiting! Dozens of Moai statues here, with views of Ahu Tongariki in the distance. 2️⃣ Ahu Tongariki: The iconic lineup of 15 Moai 🗿—a must-see. Skip this, and you haven’t truly been to Easter Island! 3️⃣ Te Pito Kura (Navel of the World): Meh. Just a small stone "navel"—skip unless you’re a completionist. 4️⃣ Anakena Beach: A nice beach for relaxing 🏖️, but not a priority if you’re only here for 1-2 days. Has free-to-see Moai. 5️⃣ Moai Tahai: The only Moai with restored eyes! Super romantic to watch the sunset here while dining. 6️⃣ Orongo Village & Rano Kau Crater: Orongo is small but historic (the "Birdman Cult" competition site). Walk to the crater’s edge for epic photos. Notes: Easter Island is crazy expensive! A bottle of water costs $3 USD, and the tap water is salty—can’t even boil it 🥹. Ate wild guavas and mangoes straight from trees 🥭. So. Many. Dogs. 🐶 One kept licking my hands during sunset—didn’t want to leave! Highlight: BBQ dinner by the beach at sunset 🌅—pure bliss! Our hotel owner and local guide gifted us tiny Moai souvenirs! Bye for now, Easter Island 🗿. #SouthAmerica #EasterIsland #ChileTravel #TravelDiaries #OffTheBeatenPath #MoaiStatues #RemoteDestinations #NatureMysteries #ChileTravelGuide
