Eating & Drinking Diary 🍽️ | Philadelphia | No Wonder It’s a Long-Tim
📍 JJ Thai Cuisine I’ve seen this place recommended so many times on Xiaohongshu—but honestly, that made me a little suspicious 😅. After trying Kalaya, I thought, “Could any other Thai spot really compare?” But since JJ Thai is super close to my place and the menu looked authentic (not the usual Americanized version), I decided to give it a try. And guess what? It’s legit delicious! 🌟 It’s different from Kalaya, but in a good way—flavorful, generous portions, and great value. Main Dishes We Ordered: 🦑 Grilled Squid – A real standout! Tender with a smoky grilled aroma, and the sauce totally brought back memories of Thai night markets. 🦆 Crispy Duck – Solid sweet-and-sour flavor, though a bit sweet for my taste. The fried eggplant underneath was a surprise hit—crispy outside, soft inside, like little eggplant fritters! We also had a side of sticky rice with coconut milk 🍚 – fragrant and comforting. Starters & Sides: 🥟 Shumai & Taro Shrimp Dumplings – The shumai were huge and packed with bouncy shrimp. Taro flavor was subtle—these could easily compete with dim sum spots! 🥗 Thai Salad – Fresh and reliable, a nice refreshing balance to the richer dishes. The portions here are NO JOKE 😂—so much meat, so much food! We knew right away we’d need to take some home. If you go with two people, two mains + one salad is plenty (skip the extras unless you’re really hungry!). Service was also warm and attentive 👏—another big plus! Definitely a spot I’d return to. ✅ Verdict: A convenient, tasty, and satisfying Thai experience. Not overhyped—it delivers! 📸: iPhone 15 Pro #PhillyEats #JJThai #ThaiFoodLove #PhillyFoodGuide #FoodDiary #GlobalEats #WeekendVibes #StudentEats #CantSkipThis
