Eating a Hamburger in Hamburg, Germany 🍔🇩🇪

As a port city, Hamburg boasts unique architecture and urban landscapes. Its famous attractions are relatively concentrated, making it perfect for sightseeing and city walks. This time, we stayed at a hotel next to St. Nicholas Church, and most of the city center’s attractions were within walking distance, which was very convenient. 🏙️👣 Transportation: During our six-day trip, we mostly relied on walking 🚶‍♂️. We only took the subway and train when traveling to Bremen. If you plan to use public transportation, I recommend downloading the local transit apps: HVV (for subways) and DB Navigator (for trains). For subway tickets, if you’re traveling alone and plan to take more than two rides in a day, a day ticket (€7.80) is worth considering. For groups, a group day ticket is even more cost-effective. Train tickets can be easily purchased through the DB app by linking a credit card. There’s no need to swipe tickets when entering or exiting stations—just show your app ticket to inspectors if checked. While subway checks are occasional, those caught without a ticket may face fines. ⚠️🎫 Attractions: Among all the places we visited, I found Miniatur Wunderland the most worthwhile. It’s a unique Hamburg experience, and I recommend buying tickets online in advance to avoid waiting. We bought ours on-site and had to wait about 30 minutes to enter. For detailed visiting tips, check out other travelers’ guides. The exhibit is incredibly detailed and truly impressive—you can easily spend hours there! 😍🚂 Other notable attractions include the Elbphilharmonie (concert hall), City Hall, St. Nicholas Church, Inner Alster Lake, and the Warehouse District. These spots offer glimpses of Gothic architecture and classic European cityscapes. 🏛️🌳 Hamburg also serves as a great base for day trips to nearby cities: Lübeck: north of Hamburg, near the Baltic Sea Schwerin: east of Hamburg Bremen: south of Hamburg, a fairytale town from the Grimm Brothers’ stories Each of these cities is about 1.5 hours away by transit and perfect for leisurely exploration. 🚆🗺️ Shopping: Honestly, Hamburg isn’t a shopping paradise. Luxury goods have become more expensive across Europe this year, and the tax refund rate here is only about 10–12%. There aren’t many unique local brands either, so I ended up just buying some health products and skincare items at DM. 🛍️😐 Food: As someone with a strong preference for Chinese cuisine, I struggled with Western food after just one day. By the second night, I was happily cooking instant noodles and hotpot in the hotel room! 🍜🔥 The beer, however, is excellent—even blind picks turned out great. Just be careful when buying at supermarkets, as many options here are alcohol-free (less than 0.5% alcohol). 🍻❌ Overall, Hamburg is a city suited for sightseeing and walking. It doesn’t offer a vibrant nightlife, but public transportation is convenient. Prices are average for Europe. It’s a nice place to pass through, but I probably wouldn’t choose it as a dedicated travel destination. 👍😊 #Travel #Wanderlust #BackToExploring #HamburgGermany
