Eating in Maine š½ļø | Delicious Seafood vs. Seasickness Challenge šµ
When we passed through Portland, we stopped by this restaurant with over 5,000 reviewsāand hereās the fun part: itās on a boat! š¢ My partner sat for a minute, then said, āI think this boatās swaying,ā and right after that, I felt it too, wobbly and all š«Ø. Lucky for me, I donāt get seasick, but my partner started feeling a little queasyātotal āseasickness vs. seafoodā showdown! The restaurantās decor is super retro, with warm wooden accents and nautical touches that make you feel like youāre dining on a cozy old ship. My favorite part? Spotting two āold friendsā from Animal Crossingāa mahi-mahi and a sailfish, mounted as decor! š They looked just like the ones in the game, which made me grin. Plus, thereās a server named Luigiāand he even looks a bit like the Luigi from Mario! š«¢ It was such a fun little coincidence. While we ate, we could also see cruise ships docked nearby, all shiny and ready for adventures⦠I couldnāt help but feel a little envious, daydreaming about my next cruise š¤©. š¦ Fried Calamari: Itās different from what weāve had at other spotsāmaybe itās the seasoning? But hereās the thing: it wasnāt crispy at all, just a bit soft. Not bad, but definitely not the crunchy calamari we were hoping for š«¢. š¦ Lobster Stew: This was good! Rich, creamy, and packed with sweet lobster bits that tasted fresh off the coast. But the bowl was hugeālike, so big that by the time I got to the last sip, my arm was tired from holding the bowl, and I was stuffed to the brim šāāļø. Pro tip: Share it if you donāt have a massive appetite! š Mixed Seafood Broil: Chefās kiss š! This was the star of the meal. The seafood (think shrimp, scallops, and chunks of white fish) had a crispy, golden outer layer that crunched nicely, and inside? Tender, juicy, and full of that fresh ocean flavor. Every bite was a mix of crispy and softāso good we almost ordered a second! š Scallop Roll: This was solid too! Plump, sweet scallops tucked into a buttery bun, no weird extra sauces to overpower the seafood. But compared to the Mixed Seafood Broil, it just didnāt have that āwowā factorāstill tasty, but not as memorable š«¢. š DiMillo's On the Water25 Long Wharf, Portland, ME 04101 #MaineSeafood #PortlandEats #DiningOnABoat
