Enchanted by New Orleans Jazz

Hi everyone! In this Xiaohongshu post, I want to recommend an incredibly fun city in the southern US – New Orleans! Renowned for jazz, Mardi Gras, Cajun seafood, and even fried chicken wings (surprise?!), this city’s exotic vibe and voodoo culture draw countless visitors from across America. My trip here started in December 2024, and I hope this guide helps you plan your own adventure! Day 1️⃣ 🎷 The National WWII Museum 945 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 This museum is dedicated to World War II. When you enter, you’ll receive a dog tag – it guides you through the war from the perspective of a soldier. I left with a heavy heart, but it’s an incredibly meaningful place for honoring history. I recommend setting aside half a day to explore it thoroughly. 🎷 The Sazerac House 101 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70130 You can’t visit New Orleans without trying its drinks! Book a free tour on their official website to sample spirits – a perfect way to dive into local drinking culture 🥃. 🎷 French Quarter A must-visit in New Orleans! The liveliest spots in the French Quarter are Bourbon Street and Royal Street. Here’s a fun fact: the architectural style in the French Quarter is actually Spanish, not French 😄! 🎷 St Louis Cathedral 615 Pere Antoine Aly, New Orleans, LA 70116 A stunning cathedral! The popular Instagram-worthy LaBranche House is right behind it. There are also plenty of street musicians playing jazz in front of the cathedral – definitely worth pausing to listen for a while 🎶. 🎷 Jackson Square 701 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70116 A small square in front of the cathedral. Walk a little further, and you’ll reach the Mississippi River – many people come here to take photos of the sunset 🌅. Nearby, you’ll find Cafe Du Monde, where you can try their famous beignets and café au lait. Day 2️⃣ 🌳 Oak Alley Plantation and Swamp Boat Tour Day 2’s itinerary takes you outside downtown New Orleans. I bought a combined ticket on TripAdvisor for Oak Alley Plantation and a swamp boat tour (to see alligators and raccoons 🐊🦝). Oak Alley Plantation is amazing for photos, and strolling around the estate feels so peaceful – highly recommended! The swamp tour, though? It didn’t have many surprises, so it’s optional. #neworleans #NewOrleansTravel #Voodoo #USATravel #SouthernUSTravel
