Enjoyed a 150-year-old traditional English afternoon tea

While planning a day trip to Kew Gardens with a friend, we stumbled upon this traditional afternoon tea spot. It wasn’t until we made a reservation on their official website that we realized the place has been open for over 150 years 😲 So we quickly made a booking 🙌🏻 When we arrived, it wasn’t too crowded, mostly white-haired grandpas and grandmas relaxing and enjoying tea with their families and friends on the weekend. The shop was obviously decorated with care, featuring little floral curtains, warm hanging lamps, vintage plates, and a fireplace. I couldn’t help but wonder what the shop looked like 150 years ago. My friend and I ordered the two-person High Tea set 😋 In addition to the basic tea, it included sandwiches 🥪, scones 🧈, and cake 🍰. The warm, freshly baked scones and the refreshing cucumber & salmon sandwiches were my NO.1 pick 🫶🏻 The cake was self-selecting, but to me, they were all a bit too sweet 🥲 The less sweet blueberry cake was my first choice and was delicious 👍🏻 Even if you’re not visiting Kew Gardens, it’s worth a trip for the afternoon tea 🫶🏻 #London #AfternoonTea #BritishDailyLife #EnglishAfternoonTea
