Enjoying Indian Food on a Snowy Day in STL ❄️
Today, as snow fell heavily in St. Louis, my partner and I decided to try an Indian restaurant we’d had bookmarked for a while—Black Salt. I actually first noticed them at the grocery store, where a small fridge was dedicated to their ready-to-eat meals. To my surprise, the dine-in restaurant was right next door! Today, we finally made it inside 🏠. The restaurant was warm and cozy, perfect for a winter evening. The server was very friendly and smiled often, which put us in a good mood 😊. We started with grilled chicken as an appetizer—the chicken was cooked just right, not tough at all. The salad dressing was my favorite: sweet and tangy, really refreshing! Though the green masala dipping sauce served alongside was a bit too unique for my taste… 🥗 For the main course, I ordered Chicken Masala with the mildest spice level—just right for someone like me who doesn’t handle heat well. It was flavorful but not overwhelming. My partner ordered another curry dish (I forgot the name!), which was also delicious 🍛. We paired our curries with butter naan and garlic naan. The naan was served warm and was perfect for dipping into the curry. Each bite was comforting and satisfying 😋. The portions here are genuinely generous! The curry bowl may look small, but it’s quite deep. We were both very full, and when we packed the leftovers, we realized we’d barely made a dent in the curry… The server even checked on us to make sure the spice level was okay, which was very thoughtful. As we were leaving, they offered us a small cup of mango lassi to help with the spice. Wow, this lassi was amazing! I’m not sure what yogurt they used, but it was perfectly sweet and refreshing—a delightful end to the meal 🥭. If you’re in St. Louis and looking for authentic Indian food with friendly service, I highly recommend Black Salt. Don’t forget to try the naan and the mango lassi! #SnowySTL #IndianFoodLove #ComfortFood #StLouisEats #FoodieAdventure #WinterDining #TrySomethingNew #BlackSaltSTL
