Formed over 1,000 years ago, Wenchi is now a pristine crater lake at 2,600m elevation, renowned as Africa’s second-cleanest lake. Surrounded by lush forests, hot springs, waterfalls, and traditional villages, its turquoise waters are simply magical. 🚗 Getting There From Addis Ababa: ~155 km (3-4 hours by private car). Our Tour: Departed at 6 AM from Ghion Hotel, arrived by 11 AM (slow bus). 🌿 Highlights 1️⃣ Horseback Riding in the Valley (300-500 ETB): Felt like Inner Mongolia—rolling hills, grazing cattle, and friendly donkeys. Perfect for photos! 2️⃣ Boat Ride on Wenchi Lake (100 ETB/person): Glide across the crystal-clear waters with mountain reflections. 3️⃣ Hiking & Hot Springs: Trek through forests or soak in natural thermal baths. 4️⃣ Overnight Option: If you have time: Camp by the lake, join locals in traditional singing/dancing, and stargaze! 💰 Costs & Tips Day Tour: Rushed but doable (we mostly snapped pics and left).
