Europe's smallest capital
Bratislava is the capital and largest city of Slovakia, located in Central Europe on the banks of the Danube River, near the borders of Slovakia with Austria and Hungary. As a result, Bratislava is one of the few European capitals that border three countries. With a population of only about 440,000, it is quite small.😘😘😘 I visited Slovakia mainly for a competition and didn't have the chance to explore many landmarks or natural attractions. However, I compiled a list of nine places that are worth visiting:😁😁😁 1. The medieval castle, located on a hill, offers stunning views of the magnificent castle ruins.😂😂😂 3. Tatra Mountains : The Tatra Mountains are one of the smallest high - mountain ranges in Europe, but they offer breathtaking natural beauty. This protected area features snow - capped peaks, crystal - clear glacial lakes, and dense forests. 4. Devín Castle : Located in the suburbs of Bratislava, Devín Castle sits on a cliff at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers. With a history dating back to ancient times, it was an important border fortress for the Roman Empire. 5. Bystrianska Cave : One of the most famous limestone caves in Slovakia, Bystrianska Cave is famous for its unique stalactites and stalagmites. The cave consists of several natural chambers that resemble an underground palace. 6. Levoča and St. James Church : Levoča is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well - preserved medieval urban layout and religious architecture. St. James Church houses the world's highest Gothic wooden altar, standing at 18.6 meters tall and created by the famous sculptor Master Paul. It is a masterpiece of art and religion. 7. Orava Castle : Built in the 13th century, Orava Castle is perched on a cliff above the Orava River and is considered one of the best - preserved medieval castles in Slovakia.
