✨ European travel guide | 🇪🇸 Alicante One day trip
🌞 A Day in Alicante: Sun, Sea, and Castles Along the Mediterranean Starting from Albacete around 8 AM, the train ride took just an hour—perfect for a quick weekend escape. Stepping out of the station, we wandered on foot, letting the city guide us through its sights. 🏰 First Stop: Castillo San Fernando A short uphill climb led us to this castle, and the view? Stunning. From the top, a sea of Mediterranean-style buildings stretched out below—those white walls and terracotta roofs I’d only seen in geography textbooks. Standing there, it felt surreal, like stepping into a picture. 🩷 🌴 Second Stop: Palm Avenue & the Waterfront Descending, we followed the main street for 10 minutes until we hit Palm Avenue, lined with swaying palm trees. Walking further, the sea came into view—and wow. The water sparkled under the sun, so clear and bright it hurt to look, like scattered gemstones. We lingered, reluctant to leave. Along the avenue, restaurants buzzed, so we popped into a Spanish spot for a massive four-person paella—huge enough to feed even more, rich with saffron and seafood. 🏖️ Third Stop: The Beach Post-lunch, we wandered to the beach. The views were lovely, but weekends mean crowds—so many people, there was barely space to step! Instead, we sat on the rocks nearby, letting the sea breeze ruffle our hair. 🌊 🏰 Fourth Stop: Castillo Santa Bárbara A 5-minute walk along the beach brought us to the elevator for this iconic castle. A €2 one-way ticket whisked us up in minutes, and the platform at the top? Breathtaking. The entire city spread out, with the Mediterranean stretching endlessly beyond—exactly what I’d dreamed of when learning about European geography in high school. It was even more beautiful than I imagined. We got so lost in the view that we barely explored the castle itself before heading down. Dinner was at a sushi spot near the base, and by the time we finished, night had fallen. We strolled back to the waterfront to soak in Alicante’s twinkling lights, then walked 10 minutes along Palm Avenue to the station. Alicante is magic—old-world charm, a sea that shimmers like treasure, and warmth in every corner. Until next time. Hasta luego. #AlicanteDiary #MediterraneanMagic #SpainWanderlust #WeekendEscape
