Even My Chinese Palate Approves
Friends! This pasta is seriously amazing — probably my most satisfying restaurant visit recently! The only downside is the location — it’s in Philly but not exactly downtown, more like South Philadelphia? On the way there, it was all residential areas and I was thinking, “Where’s the restaurant??” 🧐 Parking isn’t the easiest, but I’d go back just for the pasta — it’s that good! Seafood Pasta – The sauce was similar to other places, but the seafood was delicious. This was the chef’s special that day — not sure if it’s always available. Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe – My absolute favorite! The cream sauce was incredibly fragrant and not heavy at all. The noodles were on the softer side — perfect since I don’t like al dente pasta. Squid Ink Tonnarelli – My least favorite that day. The noodles were very firm and chewy — not undercooked, but not my texture preference 😅. Pappardelle – Wide noodles that reminded me of Cantonese dry-fried ho fun (beef chow fun). Tasted like ho fun with cheese — my friends loved it, but it was just okay for me. Grigliata di Pesce – Grilled sea bass with shrimp and spinach. This was another favorite! Usually I eat heavy fish dishes (fried, boiled in spicy broth, etc.), so this simple grilled style felt refreshing. No fishy or muddy taste — just clean, sweet flavor. The shrimp were also grilled perfectly and super fresh! Fries – Pretty good, optional though. Desserts – We tried the first three on the menu. Only the tiramisu stood out — when in an Italian restaurant, you gotta order tiramisu, right? 😂 My friend said it was better than Costco’s tiramisu! 🍴 Restaurant: L’Anima 📍 Address: 1001 S 17th St, Philadelphia, PA 19146 #PhillyFood #PhillyEats #Philadelphia #DateNightSpot #HiddenGem #ItalianFoodPhilly #PhillyLife
