Exploring Barton Creek Greenbelt: Austin’s Natural Oasis
Flowing through the heart of Austin, Barton Creek offers some of the city’s best hiking and swimming spots—all within minutes of downtown. We chose the Greenbelt section for its mix of adventure and refreshing waters. 🌿 Trail & Water Access Parking: Limited roadside spots near trailheads (e.g., 360 Access Point or Gus Fruh). Arrive early! Hike In: A rocky, narrow path (20–30 mins) leads to swimming holes. Watch your step—some sections require scrambling over boulders. Swimming Areas: Shallow zones: Perfect for kids to splash. Deep pools: Jump off limestone cliffs (check water depth first!). Twin Falls & Sculpture Falls: Popular spots with crystal-clear water (spring-fed!). ⚠️ Heads Up No facilities: Bring your own water, snacks, and a pop-up changing tent if needed. Safety: Rocks can be slippery—water shoes recommended. 🎒 Packing List Swimsuit + towel Hiking sandals or sturdy sneakers Trash bag (pack it out!) Why Go? It’s wild Austin at its best—no entry fees, just sun, stone, and swimming under the Texas sky. #BartonCreek #AustinHikes #SwimmingHoles #TexasOutdoors
