Exploring Berlin’s Underground Secrets is a Must-Go!

Just came up from the tour and I’m already writing this review – it was so worth it! A must-visit when you’re in Berlin! No photos allowed inside though. 😓 Berlin has numerous World War II shelters and bunkers. The guided tour takes you through the chosen route, but the guide also humorously introduces the underground world itself (its structure, function, truths, etc.). Along the way, they share loads of facts and Hitler’s lies (like how he managed to fund the war from a population that didn’t want to fight, and how he brainwashed the masses). There are physical evidence and traces of people’s lives back then, as well as explanations for why some routes are no longer accessible and the truth about Hitler’s death. 🕵️ The tour also covers the contributions of different groups and individuals during the war. Surprisingly, many artifacts indicate that it was women who learned bomb shelter evacuation, women who kept nursing while continuously giving birth, women who worked as laborers to build shelters, and women who did most of the post-war reconstruction and debris removal. A significant portion of the factory laborers were women forcibly brought from other countries, and many women were also pushed to the front lines when the Soviets surrounded the area. Different routes may focus on different aspects, but you’ll always hear locals’ views on these historical events and many stories and feelings from survivors. The tour even briefly touches on beer brewing and information technology in Germany at that time. 🍺💻 The organization is a non-profit, and all proceeds are used to explore and protect these historical traces. At the end of the route, there’s a showcase of laborer information and artifacts discovered by the team. They traced surviving laborers who were kidnapped from places like Ukraine to work in Germany. After the war, they were released, discarded all evidence, and kept silent about their experiences to avoid being charged with treason when returning to the Soviet zone. It wasn’t until 2000 that their work and suffering were recognized, thanks to the team’s discovery. They came to Berlin to claim their earnings and were able to tell their stories. What they do is so meaningful, and the ticket price is more than worth it – definitely a must-visit. 🌟 The guide I had spoke excellent English, and I had no trouble understanding throughout the tour. You can ask questions at any time. 🗣️ #BerlinUndergroundWorld #BerlinHistory #BerlinTravel #Tours
