Exploring Joffre Lakes: A British Columbia Gem
Our adventure through the stunning Joffre Lakes in British Columbia was nothing short of magical. We journeyed through all three lakes, each with its own unique charm. The Upper Lake stole our hearts with its breathtaking beauty, followed by the picturesque Middle Lake, while the Lower Lake, though more ordinary, had its own icy allure back in April. The entire trek was an 8.6 km round trip, with an elevation gain of 506 meters, taking us a total of 4 hours and 24 minutes, with 2 hours and 58 minutes of active hiking. 1οΈβ£ Lower Lake Just a quick 5-minute stroll from the parking lot, the Lower Lake greets you with its serene waters. Beware of the mosquitoes buzzing around π¦, but the view is worth it! 2οΈβ£ Middle Lake The hike from Lower to Middle Lake is a sun-drenched journey with a steep incline, taking about 1 to 1.5 hours. This lake is an Instagram favorite, especially with the iconic tree standing proudly in the water π². Adventurers from all over strike poses on it, and some even take a daring plunge into the refreshing waters (check out pics 5-8) π. 3οΈβ£ Upper Lake A mere 30-minute walk from Middle Lake, you'll pass a refreshing waterfall that sets the tone for the most stunning scenery of all three lakes. The Upper Lake is a haven for rest and picnics π. We found ourselves mesmerized by the view, watching two brave souls scale the mountain to catch a glimpse of the glacier ποΈ. From afar, they appeared as tiny specks against the vast mountain backdrop. The trail to the glacier is not for the faint-hearted, with its steep ridges, slippery gravel, snow patches, and the ever-present glacier meltwater. #BeautifulLifeRecords #EverythingIsBeautiful #CanadaLife #VancouverLife #OutdoorHiking #Hiking #JoffreLakes #BC #HikingTheWorld #ScenicHiking
