Exploring Local Eats in Huntsville, AL with My Four Little Foodies
Our family recently visited Huntsville, Alabama, and we couldn’t wait to dive into the local food scene! Here’s where we ate and what we loved: 🍗🥤 Betty Mae’s – Southern Comfort Food 🥤🍗 No trip to the South is complete without fried chicken! Betty Mae’s version is crispy on the outside, juicy inside—even my picky eater couldn’t resist seconds. We also tried their braised oxtail—fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The sides (buttery corn and green beans) were solid, but the real star? Sweet tea (warning: it’s very sweet—skip the lemonade unless you love sugar overload!). 🍔🍺 Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint 🍺🍔 Originally, we planned to dine at The Poppy and Parliament, but they close early on Sundays (kitchen stops at 8 PM!). Luckily, Jack Brown’s was buzzing with locals, so we gave it a shot. ✨ Highlights: Fun vibe: Lively music and quirky decor (perfect for families—no one noticed our kids being loud!). Local craft beers: Hubby’s pick: Whole Hog Oatmeal Cream Pie Stout (caramel + oat notes, but a tad bitter for me). My choice: Innerspace Blueberry Milkshake Beer—actually tasted like blueberries! (I never finish beers… but I finished this one!). Wild burgers: "Trash Panda": Donut bun (!) with bacon, cheese, and BBQ sauce (sounds crazy, tastes amazing). "Elvis": Peanut butter, bacon, and banana (weird combo, but it works). ⚠️ Note: After 10 PM, it’s 21+ only (not that we could stay out that late with kids anyway!). Final Thoughts Huntsville’s food scene surprised us—homey Southern classics + creative burgers & brews = a win for families and foodies alike! #HuntsvilleAL #SouthernEats #FamilyTravel #AlabamaFoodie #BurgerLovers
