Exploring Midtown NYC’s Mexican Cuisine: tán (and Other Mexican Eats)
🌸I used to be indifferent about Mexican food, but I realized it was just because I hadn’t tried the good stuff. After visiting Mariscos El Submarino in Greenpoint and the newly opened Cuerno downstairs from my office, I discovered how amazing tacos with ribeye can be. This summer, I’ve been craving Mexican food! 🌮 I tried Casa Enrique in LIC, but it was pretty average. Sitting outside, I even got bitten by mosquitoes. 🦟 🎢 This time, I met up with a friend at a place near her home. The ambiance was delightful, and the presentation of the dishes was stunning. However, I didn’t realize they only had a brunch menu at lunchtime, with the more classic dishes only available on the dinner menu. We found out at the doorstep, but we decided to give it a try anyway. 🥗 The Tuna Ceviche with mango was quite refreshing. The Guacamole had a crispy skin that was a bit too hard, which was a bit painful to eat and didn’t absorb the sauce well. 🌊 My cheese and beef enchilada was flavorful (though if the combination of cheese, beef, and tortilla were bad, the place should close immediately). My friend, who isn’t a big fan of Mexican food, ordered regular brunch items like eggs. 🍳 Labor Day Weekend had great weather, and I didn’t have to work. Although I lost badly at pickleball on Friday night and felt quite down, I bounced back on Sunday. 🍃 It’s true that any sport heavily depends on your state of mind—there’s a reason people want to take stimulants before a game! 🎾 #NYCWeekend #LIC #NYCLife #NYCMexicanFood 🌟🌮
