Finding a Dream Island in Finland 🏰
If you've explored Helsinki city center and still have time, don't miss the ancient and romantic Suomenlinna, a dream island reachable by a half-hour ferry ride~ 🚢 Ferry Route: Board the ferry at the Ferris wheel pier, where there's a ticket machine next to it. Prepare some small denomination bills, as the machine only gives change in coins. A round-trip ticket costs 2.95 euros, and the half-hour journey offers beautiful scenery all the way. There aren't too many people on the island, and the first ferry leaves at 9:40 AM, followed by one every 40 minutes. Suomenlinna is composed of three small islands, and the main way to get around is on foot. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to explore all of them. The background is the blue of 60 degrees north latitude, passing through ancient walls, with dappled light and shadows from the trees. On a sunny day, the photos are stunningly beautiful~If you have enough time and energy, you can visit all three islands. The supermarket on the island has very reasonable prices, and you can have lunch there. Bread + coffee is only 1.95 euros, and there are fresh fruits and various beers. Enjoy a beer with the beautiful view outside~ 🫕 Surroundings: Next to the pier is the famous Market Square and the salmon paradise, Old Market. You can experience the freedom of salmon by walking there a few minutes before departure or after disembarking. Note the business hours; it's closed on Sundays and opens at 8:30 AM on weekdays. Inside the Old Market, there are various salmon products. It's recommended to go to the one at the end. Ask the owner for sashimi preparation, and he will slice the fresh fish that arrived that day. Southerners might be used to salmon with soy sauce and wasabi. If you don't specify, you'll get thick slices of salmon without any sauce, which feels soulless without it. Sashimi is 13 euros a portion, slightly more expensive than the sliced ones but delicious. The fried fish is also very fresh, and if you go early, it's all freshly fried. The salmon tart looks very attractive but isn't that impressive in taste. Opposite the Old Market is Helsinki's top-rated steakhouse, Goodwin The Steak House, a long-standing restaurant. The salmon soup and mushroom soup are recommended, better than the fish soup in the Old Market. The steak is a bit ordinary, even when ordered medium rare, it's a bit tough. The ambiance is nice, and it's worth experiencing. The average cost per person is around 30 euros. After eating, cross the road to the tram stop, and take a tram to tour the city and enjoy the scenery—it's really great. #Finland #Helsinki #CityWalk #Travel #Nordic #OffTheBeatenPath #MyCircumference #TravelTips
