Fishing Break Notes: Finnish Cuisine at Savotta 🍲

👉Today's recommendation is a Helsinki local food restaurant, Savotta. They specialize in traditional Finnish home-cooked dishes. Personally, I find Finnish cuisine somewhat similar to Russian cuisine, probably due to their geographical proximity and shared culinary influences. 👉Let's talk about the restaurant's decor, which is in the traditional Finnish countryside style, with lots of traditional embroidery and wooden decorations, and warm yellow candlelight for a cozy atmosphere. You can see Helsinki's White Church from the window, and the location is fantastic. The waitstaff are local grandmothers, apron-clad and dressed in Scandinavian traditional attire, adding to the local charm. 👉A must-try here is the traditional salmon soup. We ordered a whole pot because we were a large group. It's served in a small iron pot, filled with chunks of salmon, potatoes, and other root vegetables. The base is a common European cream soup with olive oil seasoning. Finnish winters are so cold, and a bowl of salmon soup is especially warming for the stomach. 👉The baked salmon is in the traditional European style with dill cream flavor, served with a refreshing side of marinated fennel, which is delicious. My favorite is the red wine steak, which is a well-done braised steak, tender and flavorful with a sauce infused with red wine and root vegetables, giving it a hearty Russian flavor. Be cautious with the game sauce, as the strong taste of the meat is overwhelming, even with a salad on the side. It's hard to eat, even for the most adventurous palates. 👉Lastly, I recommend trying the cold appetizer plate inspired by the Sami, the Finnish nomadic people. It includes venison, bear meat, blood sausage made from deer blood, and a pâté made from deer liver. To be honest, it's not something I'm particularly accustomed to, and I doubt I'd order it again, but it's a must-try experience when you're here. 👉All dishes come with a salad and mashed potatoes, so I个人认为 there's no need to order a separate main course. The address is provided at the end, with an average cost of about 500¥ per person. Reservations are recommended. #FishingBreak #Helsinki #Nordic #Finland #HiddenGemRestaurants #FoodDaily #Travel #NordicCuisine
