Florence's Most Stunning Hidden Gem: The Foundling Hospital Museum
The world's first orphanage, established in Florence 600 years ago. Museo degli Innocenti Since I was in Florence for a conference and didn't have many full days to spare, I decided to explore some lesser-known, less crowded attractions. To my surprise, the most stunning museum I visited in Florence was the Foundling Hospital Museum! I'm truly grateful for the recommendation from a fellow traveler on social media. π Compared to the eclectic mix of artworks in art museums, the Foundling Hospital Museum has a clear historical focus. Even someone with no prior knowledge will gain a comprehensive understanding of how the child care system was established in Italy at the time after visiting the exhibition. π The most breathtaking part is the display of tokens left with abandoned children. Each child's token and records are perfectly preserved. Visitors can open little boxes to see half-split coins, pendants, and scraps of fabric from swaddling clothes. As the box clicks open, it feels like a flood of memories. π¨ The museum was designed by the same architect who built the Florence Cathedral. Unlike the bustling cathedral, this place is relatively quiet and perfect for reflection and photography. I took some of the best photos of my life in the small garden inside! π I highly recommend this museum to anyone who loves history and enjoys a peaceful environment. It's truly a hidden gem worth discovering! #Florence #Italy #Museum #FlorenceTravel #ExhibitionDesign #MustVisitMuseum
