Food Recommendation for Acadia National Park (Portland Area) ‼️
📍 Restaurant Name: Thurston's Lobster Pound 🏠 Address: 9 Thurston Rd, Bernard, ME 04612 Not sure where to eat lobster during your Acadia trip? We highly recommend this spot! 👍 👍 Admittedly, it’s a bit of a drive from Acadia—about 30 minutes by car from Bar Harbor—but it’s 100% worth it (in our opinion, Bar Harbor has a bit of a price markup for seafood). This is a large-scale lobster shack, and around the restaurant, there are piles of lobster traps stacked two stories high—total lobster-country vibes 🦞! We ordered two whole lobsters, a lobster roll, and a seasonal crab meat roll (only available when they catch enough crab!). 👍 👍 👍The live lobsters are kept in big water tanks right next to the cash register: once you order, they’ll pick one out, weigh it right away, ring you up, and steam it fresh on the spot. No fancy seasonings needed—just whole lobsters steamed to perfection. The seawater infuses just the right amount of saltiness, letting the lobster’s natural sweetness shine through. It’s the purest, most delicious fresh seafood flavor you can get 😋! The lobster roll and crab meat roll follow the same “less is more” philosophy. 👍 👍The lobster meat in the roll tastes just as fresh as the whole lobster, though the chilled temperature might tone down its sweetness a little. The crab meat roll, however, is even sweeter! The crab meat is in small chunks, but it has none of the briny seawater taste you get from lobster—just pure, sweet crab goodness 👍. There are plenty of other lobster spots near Acadia, and we think most are worth a try. But many popular “Instagram-famous” spots have long lines—so why not skip the wait and come here instead? You can enjoy your meal while taking in the ocean view, all in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere 🥳. #Acadia #AcadiaNationalPark #PortlandFood #PortlandTravel #PortlandFoodie #PortlandArea #MaineTravel #MaineLobster #MaineTourism #AcadiaMaine
