🍱 Food Review | Is Damso Izakaya's Lunch Worth It?

📍 Location: Whyte Ave (A Japanese-style izakaya we've passed by often, finally tried on a Friday) First Impressions: Walked in from bright sunshine to moody izakaya lighting - red/purple ceiling lights + warm lanterns in the booth areas. Pros: ✔ Good ambiance ✔ Fast service ✔ Decent food with variety Cons: ✖ Waitstaff seemed indifferent (hard to get attention) ✖ Over-seasoned dishes ✖ Worn-out menu ✖ Mediocre value for price 💰 Price Range: $20-40 CAD 🍽️ What We Ordered 1⃣️ Appetizer Platter • Only 6 items vs. Dorinku's 9-item platter (same street, better deal) • Highlights: Grilled pork bits, wasabi octopus, tempura • Meh: Basic seaweed salad 2⃣️ Pressed Mackerel Sushi • Too much vinegar - overpowered the fish flavor • Good fish portion though, tightly packed 3⃣️ Sashimi Bibimbap (Lunch Special) • Good: Generous fresh fish chunks in every bite • Bad: Overly sweet-spicy sauce (even for a Cantonese palate!) Served cold (expected hot bibimbap) Found a hair (but chef apologized & comped the dish - good attitude!) 💭 Final Verdict Might give it another chance if friends want to go, but wouldn't proactively return. Better for drinks/snacks at night than lunch. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) #EdmontonEats #UAStudentLife #IzakayaReview #JapaneseFoodYEG
