Fort Worth Day Trip Notes 🌵
241001 Dallas · Fort Worth Day Trip Notes 🌵🤠 Taking advantage of a layover in Fort Worth, I planned a last-minute day trip—and this cowboy city totally surprised me with its charm! The schedule was compact but not rushed, taking me from urban wonders to Western legends—a thoroughly satisfying experience. ☕ Stop 1: Giant Eyeball 👁️ Located in downtown Dallas, this giant eyeball sculpture stands 30 feet tall, pulling you into a surreal moment the second you look at it. Created by artist Tony Tasset, it was originally exhibited in Chicago before finding a permanent home in Dallas. Standing underneath for a photo feels bizarre and cool at the same time 📸. ☕ Stop 2: Flying Horse Cafe 🐎☕ A retro-industrial style café near the eyeball. I ordered their signature iced latte—smooth and rich—paired with a hearty oat cookie. Decorated with old horse gear and cowboy touches, plus upbeat music, it’s a perfect spot to recharge~ 🛍️ Stop 3: Bishop Arts District 🎨 A bohemian-flavored arts district! Colorful murals, indie bookstores, vintage shops, craft studios… creativity and life hide in every corner. I found a pair of hand-fired clay earrings here and caught a local artist’s exhibition in a small gallery. If you love indie, artsy vibes, this area is worth a slow wander 🖼️. 🤠 Stop 4: Fort Worth Stock Yards 🐂 The highlight of the day—Cowboy Town! It preserves the look and feel of a 19th-century livestock trading post: wooden buildings, dusty roads, even the smell of horse manure (really!). The must-see event is the Texas Longhorn Drive, held daily at 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM: cowboys on horseback lead a herd of longhorn cattle—with horns curved like crescent moons—down the main street. Dust swirls, and it feels like time travel. I even touched a longhorn’s horns—rough and awe-inspiring! 🍇 Stop 5: Grapevine 🍷 Before heading back to the airport, I made a quick stop in nearby Grapevine, a town famous for its wine culture. I browsed boutiques along Main Street and sampled local wines at a historic wine shop. With more time, a vineyard visit would have been perfect—unfortunately, this trip was just a glimpse. Even though it was just a layover day trip, Fort Worth’s many faces—from the art eyeball to the cattle drive, from retro cafes to wine towns—made me completely fall for this “cowboy city.” Next time, I’ll come just for it, to slowly soak in its roughness and warmth! #DallasDayTrip#FortWorth#CowboyTown#LayoverAdventure#TexasTravel#ArtsDistrict#CattleDrive
