Freshly Baked Tips for a Winter Trip to San Francisco ❄️✨
First off, San Francisco's attractions are quite close together, so getting around by rideshare or city walking is super convenient. You can even try a Waymo self-driving ride—just download the app, and tap to open the door when it arrives 🚗📱. As for the weather on December 20th: it was 5–15°C. Apart from the strong, chilly winds near the Golden Gate Bridge, the rest of the city felt mild, though it was cloudy and rainy most of the time ☁️🌧️. 1. Golden Gate Overlook There are two photo spots with trees—the nicer one is on the rooftop to the left 🏙️. You’ll also find some cool graffiti walls for pictures. From there, head east along the coast to pass several insta-worthy stops: Welcome Center (great for photos, coffee, and drinks—a perfect little break ☕). Continue along the trail (has a rustic feel) by the water until you reach the Plaza Art Museum—which is actually a “fake” one, so just snap a pic and go 📸. 2. Sotto Mare in Little Italy The seafood stew everyone recommends is truly delicious—the seafood is tender, sweet, and fresh 🦞🍅. The seafood risotto was just okay; I’d suggest ordering the steamed mussels and clams combo instead. The free bread that comes with it is more than enough as a side! 3. Boudin Bakery The clam chowder was pretty average—thick and starchy, served in a huge sourdough bowl 🥣. Surprisingly, their sandwiches were excellent! We tried the beef sandwich—juicy filling and wonderfully crispy bread 🥪💥. Recommend getting the half soup + half sandwich combo, though note the soup comes in a regular bowl, not the bread bowl. 4. Ghirardelli Square ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Must-try: Sea Salt Shake! I usually don’t love sweets, and my husband rarely praises food—but our daughter insisted we walk here (on the way from the wharf to Lombard Street). We all agreed: perfection in a cup! The sweetness, saltiness, richness, aroma, and even the temperature were just right 🧂🍫❄️. 5. Chinatown We ate here twice: One was a Cantonese spot (name forgotten, started with "Chen"—decent but not memorable). Yin Du Wonton—HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Their pork liver, braised beef, tripe, and shrimp wonton noodles were incredible 🍜❤️. Tiny shop, big talent—and very affordable! ⚠️ Closes at 5:30 PM though! Final Thoughts: San Francisco is a hilly, peaceful, and clean city—great for relaxed walks, but be prepared for steep slopes (not ideal if mobility is an issue 🏔️). The food scene is pretty solid (especially compared to up north in the U.S. 😉). As one local driver put it: “Any restaurant that survives here definitely knows what it’s doing.” Every meal felt worth savoring—no time for translating, just eating! 🍽️✨ #SanFrancisco #WinterTravel #SFTips #GoldenGateBridge #FoodieGuide #ChinatownEats #Waymo #TravelDiaries #CityWalk #SeafoodLovers #DessertHeaven
