🍣 Friends Said It’s Pricey But Can’t Stop Thinking About It!
After I brought the group to this Japanese restaurant, two friends decided they’ll just copy my orders from now on. 😆 It was so good we were still looking at photos the next day! 📍18 W Market St, Salt Lake City 🥑 Avo’s Ratings: 👏 Loved 👍 Liked 👌 Okay 👎 Not for me The menu is digital only and not very clearly organized. This review follows the menu categories to help those who struggle with ordering! ☺️ Signature Items 🐟 Kampachi Balsamic 👍 Amberjack sashimi with yuzu vinegar and chili—refreshing and appetizing. 🐟 Sake Tataki 👏 Seared salmon with smoked pepper and green chili sauce—full of flavor. 🐚 Spicy Mussels with Quail Egg 👏 Mussels, avocado, and quail egg—unique and delicious. Signature Rolls 🍣 Takashi’s Hakozushi (the Box) 👍 Tuna, yellowtail, and salmon pressed into a “box” sushi—simple yet rich. 🥒 The Summit 👍 Rice-free sushi: cucumber wrapped around tuna, spicy crab, avocado, and flying fish roe—great for low-carb diets. 🍣 Tekka Maki 👌 Salmon hand roll—tasty but not amazing, very filling. Sashimi 🦐 Amaebi (Sweet Shrimp) 👏 How is this not a signature dish?! Sweet tender body + crispy fried head—two ways to enjoy. 🐚 Hitategai (Scallop) 👌 Pretty standard. 🐟 Toro (Fatty Tuna) 👏 Rich, beautiful, thick but not greasy. 🐟 Kampachi (Amberjack) 👌 Seasoning was simpler compared to the signature version. 🪸 Uni (Sea Urchin) 👏 Not fishy! Creamy and delicate. 🍱 Sashimi Combo 👍 Good for 2-3 people to share. For larger groups, better to order à la carte. Kitchen (Hot Dishes) 🥣 Matsutake Soup 👌 Radish and mushroom soup with yuzu peel—different from typical miso. 🐷 Kuro Buta Pork Belly 👏 Sake-marinated pork belly with Peruvian chili sauce—an amazing fusion! Fried lotus root and purple sweet potato mash were also great. 💬 We reserved a big table in advance—no waiting. Otherwise, lines start right at opening! 😂 It’s not cheap, but 🥑 thinks it’s worth it. Having tried Japanese food worldwide, I didn’t have high hopes for SLC—but was totally surprised! 🌍 Four years of working remotely—next stop: still Salt Lake City. #SaltLakeCityEats #UtahFood #SLCJapanese #SLCAsianCuisine #WorkFromAnywhere #SLCTravel
