Gelephu International Airport

🔥🔥🔥Gelephu International Airport, led by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in its design, serves as Bhutan's second international airport. It is by no means merely a cold transportation hub, but a masterpiece that skillfully integrates Bhutan's ancient traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge modern architectural technology. The time-honored woodcarving techniques and traditional patterns, carrying the marks of years, collide with sturdy and durable modern building materials to spark unique vitality, making it a warm global gateway connecting Bhutan's "Gelephu Mindfulness City" with the world. Jointly planned by BIG in collaboration with aviation engineering firms NACO, Arup, and Cistri, the project embodies the wisdom of multiple parties and is scheduled to commence operations in 2029, when it will greet visitors from all over the world with a brand-new look. 📍The airport is located on the banks of the Paitha River on the border between Bhutan and India. With a floor area of 68,000 square meters, which is not overly large, it is gently surrounded by lush subtropical forests, towering mountains, and gurgling rivers, as if it has grown out of nature. As an indispensable core part of the overall planning of Gelephu Mindfulness City, it has a clear "growth trajectory" — designed to handle 123 flights per day, it is expected to receive 1.3 million passengers by 2040 and 5.5 million by 2065. This is not just a rise in numbers, but also highlights its important mission of boosting regional economic vitality and igniting a new engine for tourism development. ❤️❤️❤️ #ArchitecturalAesthetics #ArchitecturalRenderings #ArchitecturalDesign #AerialViews #UrbanSpaceDesign #ExhibitionArchitecture #ArchitecturePortfolios #NarrativeArchitecture #PublicSpaceDesign
