Germany|Bauhaus in Dessau
The Bauhaus (Dessau, 1925-1932) A 1.5-hour train ride 🚆💨 from Berlin, and I arrived in Dessau—sunlit after fresh snowfall ❄️☀️✨. Pure magic! Even the train station welcomes you with Bauhaus signage 🚏 and a line-drawn portrait of Gropius 🎨 on the platform. Now that's a first-class arrival! 🥂 The iconic Bauhaus Building (with its legendary logo 🔵🔴🟡) and the Bauhaus Museum sit on opposite sides of the station, just ~1km apart 🚶♂️. The whole town vibes like a Nordic village 🌲 meets chill design studio ✏️—so effortlessly cool 😎. 🍽️ Pro tip: The semi-underground canteen (yes, the OG Bauhaus cafeteria! 🥘) is still operational—glass walls make it easy to spot 👀. You can even stay overnight 🛏️ in the Bauhaus dorms. Design student dream = unlocked! 🔓💭 ⚠️ Heads up: Most sites (including the Masters' Houses 🏡) are closed on Mondays 🚫. Want to see the iconic chairs 🪑 and textiles? Skip Monday! 📅 🏛️ The Bauhaus Museum Dessau (opened in 2019 🎉) feels underrated—designed with input from a Barcelona-based architect 🇪🇸 (my German is... nicht gut 🙈). Barely any Asian tourists here (or at yesterday's Babylon Cinema 🎥). Fingers crossed Berlin's Bauhaus Archives reopen soon! 🤞✨ Fun fact: My modern design history thesis 📝 4 years ago was on Bauhaus women 👩🎨. Standing here now, the spirit feels alive—keep that energy strong! 💪🔥 🎥 BTW: There's a fantastic Bauhaus documentary 📽️ on Bilibili! Go watch it! 👀 #CulturalTravel #Bauhaus #Germany #Museum #Architecture #DesignInspo #OffTheBeatenPath #Wanderlust 🏛️✨
