Gold digger's dream! $20+ sashimi lunch in Midtown Manhattan!

A New York woman boldly wandered into an izakaya last week—and unexpectedly found a hidden gem of high-value sashimi rice? Yep, that’s me! I feel like I struck gold! Their lunch special—either a box of salmon sashimi with ikura rice plus a salad 🥗 or miso soup—is only $22! And it’s available Monday to Saturday! Honestly, after ordering, I was half-skeptical. But then the food came, and wow—total “so worth it” moment. The sushi rice was perfectly seasoned with that slight sweet-savory balance, and the temperature was just right. There were around 8-9 pieces of salmon—fresh and fatty—plus a little pile of ikura and seaweed salad on the side. So fragrant, I could’ve cried 😭 We also tried two rolls: the Spontaneous and Deluxe Rainbow. I ordered ones without extra sauce for something lighter, and they were both good. The fish-to-rice ratio was spot-on! The sauce that came with them was a bit sweet, though—if you’re like me, just dip in wasabi-soy sauce instead, haha. I went back the next day and tried the Imperial Sashimi. Didn’t expect it to be so fancy—it came on a “ladder” platter with a bowl of sushi rice 🍚. Again, the rice seasoning was on point, and the sashimi was super fresh. All in all, such a bang for your buck! That’s today’s share—hope you liked it!
