GR3 | Journey to Munich: A Magical Bavarian Adventure
Early in the morning, we set off from Rothenburg and after a 3.5-hour drive, arrived at the capital of Bavaria — Munich 🚗💨 🚗 BMW Welt & BMW Museum On our first afternoon in Munich, we headed straight to BMW Welt and BMW Museum. Here, you can see all kinds of BMW models, from classic retro cars to the latest concept cars — though the 3GT seems to be left out 😅 Next door, the BMW Museum is a great place to dive into the brand’s history. It showcases BMW’s evolution from producing aircraft engines to becoming a world-renowned automotive brand. 🏰 Munich Residenz The weather wasn’t on our side during our two days in Munich — mostly cloudy and drizzly 🌧️ So we planned two indoor visits for the second day, starting with the Munich Residenz. There’s an underground parking lot, which was quite convenient. This Baroque architectural complex is dazzlingly luxurious, with exquisite murals and decorations that make you feel like you’ve traveled back to the royal era. ⚠️ Important: If you want to see the crown 👑, make sure to buy the combo ticket for the Residence Museum and the Treasury! We only bought the museum ticket and wandered through a maze-like exhibition… only realizing the tour had ended when we exited. ⚽ Allianz Arena In the afternoon, we pretended to be Bayern Munich fans for half a day 😆 It took about 20 minutes to drive from the city center to the stadium. Search for “Allianz Arena Gästeparkhaus” — it’s the closest parking lot, costing €5 per day, and just a few minutes’ walk to the stadium. If you want to enter the inner field, you need to book the Arena Tour, which must be purchased together with the Bayern Museum ticket — €25 per person. Honestly, the tour is totally worth it! You get to see the inner field, player tunnel, locker room, press conference room, and more! We even took a photo with Harry Kane’s jersey in the locker room — hope he wins his first career title 🏆 🏨 Accommodation: We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in the city center — a standard business hotel with pretty good omelets at breakfast 🍳 There’s an underground parking lot right next to the main entrance, but it’s a bit narrow — not very beginner-friendly for large cars. Parking cost €31 per night. 🍴 Food: We tried German cuisine at Zum Franziskaner — the pork knuckle and sausages were delicious 😋 The recommended dark beer was a bit too strong for me; I still prefer wheat beer. On the second night, someone was craving Chinese food 😅, so we found a Yangguofu Malatang on Google Maps! The shop was filled with people of all backgrounds — everyone loves malatang! The meal cost around €38 for two — don’t convert the currency, and you’ll enjoy it just fine 😉 🚦 Transportation: There’s public transport in the city, but due to the rain, we chose to drive. Street parking and underground garages under residential buildings are available — finding a spot wasn’t too hard, but the passages are narrow. New drivers, be careful! Then on the third morning, the rain stopped, and we headed to Neuschwanstein Castle 🏰 — can’t wait! #Germany #Munich #BayernMunich #Travel #Europe #TravelAndPhotography #RicohGR3 #RoadTrip #SelfDriveExploration #Adventure
