📍Great Spots for Dining & Drinks in Salt Lake City on Weekends!
On Friday night, I met up with my local bestie for dinner and drinks 🍻👯. We browsed through Yelp, debating where to go—since heading anywhere downtown after 5 PM meant long waits everywhere. After scrolling through options, we found this place that seemed like a modern fusion of Japanese and Korean cuisine. We decided to give it a try! That night, there seemed to be a block party nearby, so it was super crowded 🎉😅. We waited about 30 minutes just for a spot at the bar. The restaurant had a great vibe, though it was a bit too noisy with the crowd—we had trouble hearing each other a few times 🗣️🔊. Here’s what we ordered: • Oden: Included two beef brisket skewers (tender and non-greasy, almost like Cantonese-style stewed beef!), two seafood balls (very Japanese and delicious), plus two large potatoes and a marinated egg 🥚🍢. Would order again! • Beef Belly: More like stir-fried beef slices with bean sprouts and veggies. A bit too salty—we kept drinking water 🥤💦. The flavor was just okay; maybe they overdid the salt. Drinks: • Bar Nohm Highball: Very bitter and strong 🥃. As someone who doesn’t know much about alcohol and prefers fruity flavors, this cocktail was a miss for me. I asked the waitress to add some strawberry syrup, and it became much better 🍓✨. • KIMTINI: True to its name, it tasted like kimchi 🥬🍸… My friend liked it; I didn’t, lol. • Makgeolli: Korean rice wine. The bartender poured it straight from a big bottle into a copper bowl 🍶✨—very similar to the bowls used by farmers back in the day! My bestie, who’d lived in Korea, was thrilled—it’s the first place she’s seen in Utah serving makgeolli. It tastes like Chinese fermented rice wine but stronger. Only the original flavor is available now. By the way, right next door is Water Witch Bar 🧙♀️🔥, which I tried soon after it opened. The bartender there serves flaming cocktails—great to watch and drink! But at over 30 for two drinks, it hurt my wallet 💸😢… I still prefer the 5 cocktails at my local neighborhood bar—better for a lightweight like me who can’t handle much but loves to drink 🐔🍹. Two dishes and three drinks later, we were fully satisfied (we weren’t super hungry that day). With tip, it came to around $40 per person—pretty standard for downtown pricing!
