Half - day City Tour of Moose Jaw Town
It's such a lovely town. I'd always heard about it but had never been here. ๐ฃ ๐Finally, right before leaving, I overcame my procrastination and visited it in a beautiful season. ๐๐It only takes 50 minutes to drive ๐from Regina. Along the way, there are vast fields with grass growing and birds flying, creating a quiet and leisurely atmosphere.โจโจ 1๏ธโฃ At the Welcome Centre of the town near the highway exit, there are very cute buildings and a huge moose sculpture.๐๐ The moose is kind of like the town's logo, which is quite fitting.๐๐ฃ 2๏ธโฃ Tunnels of Moose Jaw. It offers really worthwhile immersive guided theatrical tours. โ There are three different tours related to Canadian history to choose from:๐๐ Chicago Connection: It tells the history of the Prohibition era and the connection between Al Capone and Moose Jaw.๐ฅ๏ธ๐ฅ๏ธ ๐๐Passage to Fortune: It describes the tragic situations of Chinese immigrants and laborers in the early 1900s, as well as their efforts and struggles in the early construction of Canada.๐จ๐ฆ โBunker24: It relates the story that took place in a Cold - War bunker in 1958, after Canada emerged from the Great Depression and World War II as a nation.๐ โจโจToday, I chose the story of Chinese laborers. During this nearly 40 - minute tour, I saw the living and working conditions of the laborers who toiled in the underground laundry at that time, the age - old mahjong sets and opium paste, as well as the traditional Chinese๐จ๐ณ medicine clinics and Chinese restaurants that thrived here later. ๐ They worked day and night in the dark underground, struggling to pay off their passage fees and head taxes, enduring loneliness and separation from their loved ๐๐ones. ๐In an era full of oppression and discrimination, with the unique perseverance and hard - working spirit of the Chinese people, they strived to take root and survive in this distant land.โฏ๏ธ โ ๏ธEven today, seeing those faces that are both distant and familiar in the tunnel in an immersive way, I felt a deep sense of sadness and a bit of disorientation about the passage of time.๐ It was really touching.๐ 3๏ธโฃ I visited Mitsu Sushi, which is said to be the best Japanese restaurant around Regina.๐ฆ The environment is nice. ๐๐ ๐๏ธ๐๏ธI ordered a Valcano Roll. The portion was so large that I had to pack more than half of it when dining alone.๐ I went there out of enthusiasm and returned satisfied. I write this short note to commemorate this visit.๐ฃ๐ฃ #MooseJaw#Aurora #Lighthouse #Nightview
