Hamburg Seafood Restaurant Rive Fish&Faible: A Quick Taste
A German seafood restaurant on the banks of the Elbe River in Hamburg, with a menu full of French names and Italian servers. 🦪 Oysters (Oyster Tour David Hervé) - 6 pieces Raw oysters served with three sauces: Cress + French mayonnaise (not particularly impressive), bacon bits + scallion + soy sauce (the hardness of the bacon contrasts a bit with the soft oyster), Japanese yuzu vinegar + nut butter (delicious!) 🐟 Spicy Tuna Sashimi Not your classic Japanese sashimi. Below the delicate foam of yuzu vinegar lies raw tuna slices, avocado, and some type of meat, all complemented with light Japanese soy sauce. 🐟 Fried Fish (Rive Nuggets) Unexpectedly delicious. Made with Icelandic Wolffish, the meat is as tender as crab legs. Served with elderflower vinegar onions, radish slices, and French mayonnaise. 🥣 Marseille Fish Soup (Rive Bouillabaisse) Rive’s version of Marseille fish soup, packed with various seafood and vegetables. The large portion can be a main course. Served with small pieces of baguette and a type of French garlic pepper sauce. Beverages: 🍾 A whole bottle of champagne is about twice the market price. The wine service seems a bit unprofessional, with the bottle simply wiped down with an apron after dripping with ice water. Restaurant Environment: There are several cool Italian servers who seem to enjoy serving themselves. The clientele seems to be mostly elderly, making you feel like you’re dining in a senior living facility. In the evening, you can enjoy the night view of the Elbe River port. #Germany #Hamburg #HamburgFood #HamburgSeafood #GermanSeafood
