Hawaii 🌺 San Francisco’s Chef Mourad’s Japanese-French Fusion!
📍 Miro Kaimuki During our three nights in Waikiki, we had one night at La Mer, one night at Sushi Sho, and one night when we weren’t sure what to book. This place looked the most appealing to me, but reviews on Xiaohongshu were mixed, so I was hesitant! 💫Finally, seeing that Chef Chris had worked at Mourad & Aziza in San Francisco, I decided to give it a try! (PS. After Mourad closed due to lease expiration on 10/26, Chef Mourad’s profile tagged this place, so who knows, maybe there’s a chance to taste Chef Mourad’s creativity in the future!) ▪️ Prix Fixe $100 ▪️ Brioche Trio $110 ▪️ Escargot $24 ▪️ Foie $28 ▪️ N/A Nojito $11 Total: $342 The menu changes every month, so it’s a good idea to check their IG to see if they’re serving ingredients you like to reduce the risk of disappointment. This month’s menu included: ✅▫️ Flounder, sweet wine, hazelnuts ✅▫️ Parsnip root, curry, pomegranate, Miro sourdough ✅▫️ Cod, cauliflower, olives ✅▫️ Duck, Japanese pumpkin, cabbage ✅▫️ Smoked chocolate, Thai tea, rum 💫To be honest, five courses for $100, including two main dishes, is pretty good value for money. If you’re looking for fine dining, it might be a bit rough around the edges, and I’d recommend La Mer instead. 💫They’re not shy about pricing their add-ons; three brioches are more expensive than the entire menu, but the combination of caviar, sea urchin, and Ahi is quite enticing! The bread was crispy but a bit greasy, and I didn’t like how the sauce overpowered the other flavors. However, caviar and sea urchin are always delicious, so if you want a photo-worthy dish, this is it! 💫We also ordered the escargot and foie gras. The escargot was a bit salty but still enjoyable for fans. As for the foie gras, I had better at La Mer the day before, so it didn’t stand out. #Hawaii #HawaiiTravel #HawaiiTourism #HawaiiCuisine #Oahu #OahuCuisine #Honolulu #Waikiki #Hawaii
