Hawaii Day 7 (Morning at Hanauma Bay)

We finally scored reservations for Hanauma Bay snorkeling after days of trying! And it was absolutely worth the effort—honestly, I found it far superior to Shark's Cove. While Shark's Cove feels more rugged and untouched, Hanauma Bay offers better facilities, organized services, and even educational talks with volunteers ensuring safety. We set off early from Waikiki, driving along the coast and passing several small, stunning beaches. Near Hanauma Bay, we spotted a gorgeous roadside volcanic formation (Pic 15). The area is lined with beautiful spots like Maunalua Bay Beach Park, Hanauma Bay, and Sandy Beach, all serene and uncrowded. We took a quick dip at one of the smaller beaches before heading to Hanauma Bay for our scheduled slot. For first-time snorkelers, I highly recommend renting a life vest (Pic 14). The process was smooth: Parking: $3 per vehicle Check-in: Staff verified our reservation at the entrance Orientation: A brief but informative safety session (available in Mandarin!) Transport: A short shuttle ride (or a 5-min walk) down to the bay Once in the water, we were surrounded by countless colorful fish—an unforgettable experience! We started around 11:00 AM (the last entry slot), and the weather was perfect—warm but not scorching. After snorkeling, we relaxed on the beach before wrapping up around 12:30 PM (Hanauma Bay closes in the afternoon). The other photos showcase the nearby beaches. Every inch of Hawaii is breathtaking! On the drive from Waikiki to Hanauma Bay, we stumbled upon so many hidden gems—quiet, picturesque, and filled with friendly locals. At Sandy Beach, a stranger even offered to teach me how to body surf! Now back home, with summer in full swing, I can’t help but miss Hawaii’s perfect climate (25-30°C year-round), crisp air, and golden sunshine—never too harsh, always refreshing. #Hawaii #Snorkeling #RoadTrip #Oahu
