Heavy Rain Ruined My Hakone Trip, But Food Saved the Day ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ’”

I declare that May 2, 2025, was absolutely the worst day of all my travels. ๐ŸŽข๐ŸŒŸ My round-trip ticket didn't even pay off. Soaked by the heavy rain, my pants, calves, shoes, and socks were all drenched. I didn't get to take the mountain cable car at Owakudani, and I was so cold I almost got depressed. ๐ŸŽข๐ŸŒŸ But luckily, I had some good fortune with food! I found two great places near Moto-Hakone Port and one in Odawara. Unagi Hasegawa ๐Ÿ– A refreshing eel restaurant right next to the Narukawa Art Museum. I ordered both the Special and Standard set meals (as shown in Figure 2, there's a huge difference in the amount of eel, but the price is only about 1/3 more for the Special). ๐ŸŽข๐ŸŒŸ I highly recommend the Special set. The eel's crispy outer skin, when paired with rice, is sweet and delicious. The complimentary miso soup is also rich and flavorful. After finishing this meal, I felt all warmed up. ๐ŸŒŸ Bakery & Table ๐Ÿ– I took a short shelter here as a drenched chicken. ๐ŸŽข๐ŸŒŸ I bought the top-recommended curry bun and ate it in a rather embarrassed state beside a 7-Eleven. But I kept exclaiming how delicious it was. The bread has some crispy granules on the crust, I don't know what they are, but they have a light salty aroma that pairs perfectly with the slightly spicy curry filling inside. ๐ŸŽข๐ŸŒŸ And it even comes with a whole egg! At 400 yen each, it's really worth a try. ๐Ÿฅช #Hakone ๐ŸŒ‡
