Hidden Gems 01—Kumamoto 🏯🇯🇵
Starting a new series to introduce some lesser-known destinations that aren't UNESCO World Heritage Sites but are definitely worth visiting. 🐻 The first stop is a city that you might have heard of but probably haven't visited—Kumamoto. Kumamoto is located on Kyushu Island in Japan. 🌿 It's the third-largest city on the island and the prefectural capital of Kumamoto Prefecture. The city's name is well-known to international tourists, all thanks to Kumamon, the adorable bear mascot that's become a global sensation. 🐻 I originally planned to spend just half a day visiting Kumamoto Castle and then head to Aso to see the volcano the next day. 🌿However, due to bad weather, I had to cancel my Aso trip and ended up spending a day and a half doing a city walk in Kumamoto. It was only after exploring the city that I realized it's not just cute—it's also super chill and poetic! 🌿 🐻 #SuizenjiJōjuen
