Kumamoto Castle๐ธ๐
๐ฐ In 2016, Kumamoto Castle was severely damaged by an earthquake. After years of restoration, it has now been mostly restored and is open to the public. ๐ธ๐ Donations for the castle's restoration are still being accepted, and you can even receive a lord of the castle certificate! ๐ 1๏ธโฃ Main Keep | The current main keep is a reconstruction, as the original was damaged during the Satsuma Rebellion. ๐ธ๐ Inside, you'll find many precious artifacts from Kumamoto Castle, making it well worth a visit. ๐ 2๏ธโฃ Stone Walls | The stone walls may appear to have a gentle slope that can be climbed, but they are actually very steep, almost vertical. They are easy to defend and difficult to attack, even causing samurai to turn back, hence the name "Samurai Return." ๐ธ๐ They are also the longest stone walls in Japan. ๐ฏ 3๏ธโฃ Zhuo Jun Room | The most famous room in the Honmaru Goten is the Zhuo Jun Room, where the walls depict the story of the Chinese beauty Wang Zhaojun. The craftsmanship is exquisite. ๐จ 4๏ธโฃ Samurai Guards | At the entrance to the main keep, you'll find soldiers dressed in samurai attire, giving you a sense of stepping back in time. ๐ธ๐There is a performance at 14:30 every day in the plaza in front of the main keep. #Fukuoka ๐บ๐
