๐ Honest Review of New York Bars ๐
Out of 10 points โจ Danteโ9.0 ๐ฅ dantenyc was once ranked the world's number one bar. With its Italian style, both of its locations offer delicious drinks and food. Many classic cocktails here have their own unique twists, like the high-speed blender-made fluffy Garibaldi, or the various Negroni variations, all of which are delightful. Their foam-topped drinks are truly exceptional, with plenty of delicate bubbles. There's even a fun little story about the foam: ๐ Their bartenders are really skilled, in an American "big and bold" kind of way. You often see them shaking a Boston shaker in each hand, making quite a scene. One day, I was chatting happily with a bartender and mentioned that his technique would make a great Ramos Gin Fizz. He immediately became alert, saying "let's not ruin this," and then made an Amaretto Sour that was mostly foam with very little liquid, as shown in the picture. It was a truly shocking experience. ๐ The Espresso Martini is also one of their signature drinks, with half foam and half liquid. I always suspected they used some kind of methylcellulose technology... The hot Cafe Dante Coffee is also stunning. However, their seasonal new drinks can be a bit inconsistent in quality, which is a small minus point. โจ Attaboyโ8.5 ๐ฅ attaboy is very close to DCP and is also a place with long queues. There's no set menu; the bartenders will ask about your taste preferences and create a drink for you, which really tests their skills. Sadly, the drinks I ordered weren't very impressive, and the approach felt a bit uncreative. Maybe there's some good prompt to recommend? But their classic drinks, like Penicillin, are exceptionally well-made. ๐ Another issue is that their techniques are a bit outdated. For example, in the picture, the Fizz made with fresh fruit actually uses Aquafaba to create foam, which gives it a bit of a chickpea flavor. โจ Katana Kittenโ7.0 ๐ฅข This is a (pseudo) Japanese-style bar where form outweighs content. The drinks here somewhat forcibly incorporate Japanese elements. ๐ If you're a fan of the Showa style, it's worth a visit. The Amaretto Sour with umeboshi is quite tasty. #NewYorkBartour ๐ฅ
