The popular Sichuan hot pot chain Xiao Long Kan has opened near NYU, currently offering a 21% discount during its soft launch. While convenient, the experience fell short of the hype — especially compared to Haidilao. 🍅 Broth Trio Tomato, pork bone, and spicy mala (even “less less spicy” was fiery). The pork bone broth comes with a large bone that takes up space. 🥩 Best Dish: Tender Beef Slippery, marinated slices reminiscent of Haidilao’s style. 🦆 Duck Intestine Fine, but portion was small. 🍗 Crispy Fried Pork Fatty, not very crispy, and underwhelming. 🍦 Self-Serve Bar Includes tofu skins, broad beans, ice jelly (average), and free ice cream (the highlight!). Decent, not exceptional.
