Hot Spring Trip to Gero Onsen, One of Japan's Top Three Spa Towns (1)
Gero Onsen is one of Japan's top three spa towns. It's located in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, about a 2-hour drive from Nagoya. π ππΈ This spa town has over 90 hot spring inns. From the foot of the mountains to the water's edge, each inn has its own unique charm. ππΈSuimei-kan is one of the best, with classic Japanese design and multiple hot spring baths. Seifukan offers a great view from its high position. Yamagata-ya is famous for its nearly 200-year history and unique Japanese cuisine. In recent years, Gero Onsen has introduced foot baths. Some inns, like Ko-kawa-ya, offer open-air baths that are close to nature. ππΈ Visitors can also enjoy a public open-air bath by the Hida River. π In addition to the baths, the Hida beef in the Gero Onsen area is one of Japan's top-grade beefs. It has a marbled pattern and a melt-in-your-mouth texture. There are also other local specialties like mountain vegetables and river fish. π ππΈ The above introduction is borrowed. Now, I'll share the detailed route and tips for this trip: 1οΈβ£ Transportation - Hokuriku JR Line (I've introduced it before) #JapaneseHotSpring Take the Hokuriku JR Line from Nagoya to Gero for about 4,170 yen. I recommend this for those who have a JR PASS. ππΈ (You can also refer to my previous introduction for using the Hokuriku JR PASS.) #Japan
