Hot Spring Trip to Gero Onsen, One of Japan's Top Three Spa Towns (2)
2️⃣ Transportation - Meitetsu & Takayama JR Line 🚂 🏡Take the Meitetsu train and transfer to the regular Takayama JR Line. The price from Nagoya to Gero is about 2030 yen. This option is highly recommended for those who haven't purchased a JR PASS and aren't in a hurry. It's super cost-effective!👍 🍃🌸 One important thing to note is that you need to transfer at Shin-Tomigaoka. You have to exit the station for this transfer. 🏡 You can use your IC card for this segment. However, it's better to buy a paper ticket from Tomigaoka to Gero. 🍃🌸We initially used our IC card to board the train, but the balance was insufficient. We had to purchase a paper ticket on the train, and our card got locked. We had to go back to the JR exit in Nagoya to resolve the issue. 🚫 3️⃣ Hotel - Suimei-kan 🏨 This hotel is definitely the most conveniently located in the entire hot spring town. 🏡 It's just a 5-minute walk to JR Gero Station, and the hotel even offers a shuttle service. 🍃🌸 The top hotel in Gero Onsen town is probably Yunoshima, which is located on the mountain. 🏡Suimei-kan would be the second best. I booked it two months in advance. The breakfast is buffet-style. 🍃🌸The hotel has three hot spring baths♨️. The best one is the open-air bath, which has extremely high-quality water. The other two are located on the 3rd and 9th floors indoors. 🏡 The hotel houses many art pieces, and there are scheduled guided tours every day. The entire tour is conducted in Japanese. 🎨 🍃🌸 The hotel also features a mini Japanese-style garden. 🏡#Japan
