πŸ“ Nam Richmondhill 9206 Leslie St, Richmond Hill My Vietnamese mother-in-law's bestie raves about this place, but my Chinese palate had mixed feelings... (Turns out I've become that foreigner who thinks "General Tso's chicken is the best Chinese food" πŸ˜‚) 🌟 The Highlight 1️⃣ Dual Smoked & Braised Rib Pho - Their signature dish delivers! The smoked ribs are πŸ”₯❗️Fall-off-the-bone tender with juicy, smoky goodness and rich broth that makes you want to lick the bowl. The braised portion is meh though - just get the smoked version. (But the pho broth and noodles themselves are... just okay.) 😡 The Confusing Parts 2️⃣ Mango Salad - Basil overload warning πŸ’£ It's like eating a Vietnamese "cilantro salad" - the herbs dominate, and there are maybe three shrimp hiding in there. Even the sweet-sour dressing can't save this assault on the senses. Not for herb-haters! 3️⃣ Chicken Pad Thai - Tastes like supermarket instant noodles οΏ½ 4️⃣ Chicken Vermicelli Bowl - So bland it's existential πŸ₯¬ A mountain of veggies that add zero flavor, with embarrassingly little chicken. Should've brought my own Lao Gan Ma (not kidding). 🍨 Surprise Win 5️⃣ Pandan Coconut Shaved Ice - Summer savior ❄️ The pandan flavor is MIA, but the homemade coconut jelly has perfect chewiness. Mildly sweet milk ice hits the spot on a hot day! πŸ’” Final Thoughts I still prefer Pho Anh Vu and Pho Dac Biet.. (The nearby Duo Cafe was closed - so mad! Gotta try it next time.) #TorontoPho #ChinesePalateStruggles #RichmondHillFoodReview #PhoFaceOff #TorontoFoodFails
